You wanna know how my practicing's going? Well, so far I've somehow become able to play rather smoothly, the first 7 mechanical training sort of phrases that were introduced in the guitar lecture site, which I've written about in this series. (At least, now I'm able to move my left fingers without the help of my right hand ... .)

Though there were still numerous phrases and exercises introduced in this site, and I've only managed to play the first several ones reaaaaal slow ... .
It seems the weather is finally becoming like Tsuyu (the rainy season) in Tokyo, while the improvement in my guitar skills also seem to be the same, dull as the weather.

After 6 month's practice, have I become able to play any tunes? Well, I've been working on an 80's hit tune called 'Photograph' of an English rock band, Def Lappard. I've been playing along with their live CD though it's still far from perfect ... actually, keeping up with the CD seems to be the best I can do for now.

By the way, it's been a while since a Japanese Manga (comic) called 'Nodame Cantabile' (Anime version was broadcasted on TV until last week) has become quite a hit in Japan.
Thanks to the break of this Manga, one of my neighbors that gives piano lessons has been giving me a headache with a piano tune (I don't know the name of it) that appear in this 'Nodame', forcing me to hear it almost every day ... .

Moreover, the 'Nodame' tune probabaly played by their students, usually got stuck here and there ... . So I've been playing 'Photograph' in return every day, also getting stuck here and there.
Though it must be giving hell to my other neighbors, being made to hear the stumbling piano tune and my 'Photograph' every day.

Last of all, about the series of the 'Chinese GIrl' that started from Monday, March 26th. Actually, this story has a sequel to it too.

It was about 2 weeks after I had took the Chinese girl to the xx-ganka (xx-eye clinic), when Joousama recognized 2 unfamiliar girls standing across the road, as she went out of the house to take in Obaba who was dropped off by the daycare center car. One of the girls was with a dog, so JoOusama thought that she must have bumped into a friend in the middle of a walk and stopped to have a chat or something.

However, just as JoOusama was taking Obaba into the house, one of the girls came walking up towards her. JoOusama choked up and instantly braced herself, as the girl started to talk to her ... .

'Thank you for helping me out the other day,' said the girl.
?? While JoOusama stood there bewildered, the other girl (the one with the dog) came up to her and started to explain the situation, 'this is my older sisiter, ma'm'.

It seemed that this 'older sister' happened to be the Chinese girl whom I've taken to the xx-ganka (xx-eye clinic), approximately 2 weeks before that time.

According to the girl with the dog, they wanted to come to say a word of appreciation after her older sister had been saved when she got lost the other day, though unfortunately, her sister wasn't perfectly sure about which house we lived in, since it was dark when we had met and they were wondering what to do, until JoOusama came out by coincidence. Now that her older sister has seen JoOusama's face and recognized it, they seemed to have come up to her to say 'thank you'.

Hmmmmnnn. And then, what happened?
I wasn't there when all this happened, so I heard it later from JoOusama. As I urged her on, she continued her story and according to her ... .

Miss Younger Sister, who has been married to a Japanese husband and been living in Japan for a couple of years, seemed to have come along with her sister as a translator for she was able to speak fluent Japanese. She seemed to have traslated her sister's words to JoOusama, that her sister was so grateful for our kindness when she got lost the other day.

And the Chinese sisters longing to say a word of thank you, seemed that they have been looking for our house.
I don't know if JoOusama has told them 'that's very polite of you', but anyway it made me happy to know that they've come looking for our house, just to say 'thank you'.

According to Miss Younger Sister, her older sister whom JoOusama and I helped to get her to xx-ganka (xx-eye clinic), has found herself a job here in Japan and rented a room nearby. But as she is a foreigner and may get into troubles again, Miss Younger Sister seems to have asked JoOusama for kind regards in fluent Japanese.

Wooow, that's great. I really think so from the bottom of my heart, feeling that this must be what you call a happy ending.

Actually, there was a time before that I got smacked in the eye as if to say 'go away', when I offered to help a seemingly Chinese young lady with her parents, looking at a map on the wall inside Shinjuku station.

Caterpillar
Maybe the lady might have been just cautious about it all since she was abroad, but I felt a bit of bitterness thinking that she didn't have to use that tone on me. After all I was just trying to help her ... or perhaps it might have been their nationality and Chinese people could be like that generally, I thought. But now I know that I was wrong.

There were Chinese people who would take the trouble to find out where our house was and come by, to politely say 'thank you' for what we've done. I was really glad to know that my former way of thinking about Chinese people, turned out to be wrong.

But why was it JoOusama who was appreciated by those Chinese sisters, and not me? I feel like it doesn't make sense a little, though I guess I'll let it off the hook this time ... in mercy to those polite Chinese sisters.
The End
Caterpillar
My friend who seems to have been viewing this site has asked me the other day, if my 'toilet paper game' with JoOusama was still going on. The answer is YES, of course. (laugh, laugh.)

Additionally, my 'battles' against JoOusama is not only happening inside our bathroom. After all, everything goes like that, like the toilet paper, when it comes to JoOusama. She's really been a royal pain to me.

Like the paper towel in our kitchen. Same as the toilet paper, this too are often left hanging miserabely on the holder showing its bare core when it shouldn't be. And I don't know why, but I get embarassed putting myself in its place, whenever I see that bare core showing.

Or the plastic kitchen wrap. Whenever I try to pull it out to use them, this too, often seems to run out leaving just about an inch. Such things happen veeeeery often in this house.

I guess it must be needless to say that the aluminum foil wich also belongs in the 'roll' family, is destined to meet the same fate as the plastic kitchen wrap, paper towel and toilet paper... .

Well as for JoOusama, it seems that it's her specialty to 'leave things be', so she fundamentally leaves things the way she's used it, without thinking that it might give trouble to the next user.

It may be small things really, but JoOusama and I have been waging a savage 'battle' over numerous things every day, like the 'toilet paper games' that I've written before.

Around when I came back to this house, our bathroom slippers were always left with its toes facing the door. So here she goes, it's one of JoOusama's deadly techniques, 'leaving things be'.
